Photo GalleriesThere are methods to create photo gallery pages for your website. When I first started making websites, I used tables to hold the photos on an HTML page and linked from one page to another. However, in recent years, I've found some software that will create the pages, thumbnails and slides which makes the work much easier to do.
jAlbumjalbum http://jalbum.net/en/ has free photo album creating software you can download and use. You can upload all the associated files for the album to your own web host or you can store them at the jalbum site and share them from there.
Even if you aren't looking to create an album, you might want to simply browse through and take a peek at what others are doing.
Jet Photo StudioJet Photo Studio http://www.jetphotosoft.com/web/home/ You can download software to create Flash slide shows and/or Web galleries. You can also publish the web albums at the JetPhoto site and share them from there.
When you want to create an album or flash slide show, you open the program and drag the images (or folder of images) in the thumbnail view. To make a gallery, you choose the options and then click for the software to do its work. To make a slide show, you choose the size you want, then click a button and the software goes to work. The software creates an HTML page so you can preview the slide show. You can also "tweak" that HTML page and use it one your website to show the swf slideshow.
The Flash slide show starts automatically and will loop. I searched, but didn't find a way to control the slide show with a special player or with code - except to keep it from looping. The other code that should have worked - didn't, LOL!
The software comes in a Windows version (for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7) and Mac version (for Mac OS X 10.3/10.4/10.5/10.6 Snow Leopard) I am using the mac 10.4 version, so the other versions may have some other choices.
